[Fade from black]
[The narrator fades in, medium close-up, center of the screen, looking smart, with a smile on their face]

Narrator: Now that you have an interview, and the company has excepted your CV, you’ll need to know the dos (nods head, very cheesy) and the don’ts (shakes head, very cheesy) of how to successfully do your interview (thumbs up)...
[fade to interview room with interviewer in the background freeze frame]
Narrator: An interaction between an interviewer and the interviewee is polite and professional.
[move to left till off screen]

[the interview plays out with interviewee walking in from the right]

Interviewer: (Stands up and expands hand to interviewee) Welcome, you must be here for the interview?

Interviewee: (Fist bumps the hand) Yea dog, this job totally looks rad bro.

(Interviewer with a disgusted look on the face and the interviewee looking proud and smug)
[freeze frame, narrator back on screen]

Narrator: Let's see how the welcoming should be handled.

[Fade out]

[Interview starting from the beginning]

[The interviewee walks in shot from the right]

Interviewer: (Stands up and extends hand to interviewee) Welcome, you must be here for the interview?

Interviewee: (Takes hand into a firm handshake) Yes, I'm here for the job role of store floor assistant.
[Freeze frame, Narrator appears again]
Narrator: Once you’ve got the hand shake down, the next is the actual interview, let's see how our interviewee is doing.

[Fade out]

Interviewer: What can you bring to the company?

Interviewee: What I can bring to the company is a great personality, I'm very good at working with a team and being able to... [interviewee’s phone rings, interviewee answers the call] Hey bro what's up... (looks to the interviewer) Sorry my dude it's my bro I gotta take this... (with the interviewer looking disgusted)

[Freeze frames with narrator fade onto screen]

Narrator: Now that is not how you should resolve this situation, let's see how it should be done.

[Fade out]

Interviewer: What can you bring to the company?

Interviewee: What I can bring to the company is a great personality, I'm very good at working with a team and being able to...
[phone rings]
Interviewee: I'm so sorry I'll just turn it off if that’s alright (turns phone off and puts it away) excuse me, as I was saying, I'm able communicate to the customers when needed and able to bring forward great ideas that could either improve the company or the customers experience.

Narrator: Well that was well executed, let's see how they carry on.

Interviewer: Could you tell us a bit about yourself?

Interviewee: So, I was born in Cambridge and lived there for a few years then when I was ten I think it was we moved to here then I met my best friendwe got into so much trouble but not to the point where we was arrested which would have been super bad bro, but there was this one time where I threw my burrito at his face and it exploded and he chased me...
[freeze frame]

Narrator: (Shaking their head with a smirk on their face) Well that went on for forever.

[fades out]

Interviewer: Could you tell me a bit about yourself?

Interviewee: So, I was born in Cambridge and lived there for a few years then moved down here, I've been a part of a volunteering group which helps young adults in the community get off the streets, which is kind of like a youth club, we let them do what they want as long as its sensible.

(interviewer looking impressed)

Interviewer: Please expand on that.

Interviewee: well it only started a year ago...

[Interview fades out and Narrator is back on screen]

Narrator: See that was a great way to talk about yourself, so let's see how to end it.

[Back to interview]

Interviewer: Well that went well I will be in touch with in the next 2 weeks to tell you if you have the job or not.

Interviewee: Well dog that’s great, honestly my mum is gonna be proud (go for a high five) I'll catch yea later my dude.

[Narrator fades in again]

Hello again! I'm finally here at my interview and I am so nervous! I don't know how to act! Should I be rude and disinterested? (CROSSES ARMS AND SULKS)

Or should I be attentive and observant?
(SMILES AND NODS)

(WAITS FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE VIEWER FOR FOUR SECONDS)

(OVER THE TOP CHEERFULLY)

This is the basic layout for a job interview! I am sat in front of Mr.Orange to make it easy for them to ask me questions! I think he's about to ask me my first question. Wish me luck!

(FACES ORANGE)

ORANGE
(MONOTONE)

Welcome to Lemonboy Productions. I have a couple of questions to ask you. First question. Tell me about yourself.

JAMES SPLASHWORTH
(OVER THE TOP CHEERFULLY)

(FACES THE CAMERA)

Oooo, that's a tough question! I could go one of two ways here, I could ramble on and on and on! Or, I could give Orange a simple but precise answer about my talents and skills. Which do you think is best?

OPTIONS POP UP ON SCREEN. OPTION ONE IS RAMBLE, OPTION TWO IS PRECISE.

(JAMES SPLASHWORTH WAITS FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE VIEWER FOR FOUR SECONDS)

Wow! You've chosen for me to be precise? Good choice! I'll definitely make good impression answering like that!
(TURNS TO ORANGE)

Well, I am a very punctual and enthusiastic person who has a lot of experience in the production industry. I have also worked on a lot of well know films and have been very successful.

ORANGE
(MONOTONE)

Impressive. Why do you want to work here at Lemonboy Productions?

JAMES SPLASHWORTH
(OVER THE TOP CHEERFULLY)

(FACES THE CAMERA)

Dang, that's also a difficult question! I could say that I want to work here to expand my knowledge and help create amazing films for people to enjoy or I could say that I got fired from my last job for stealing and that I don't really want to work here. Which do you think is the best answer?

OPTIONS POP UP ON SCREEN. OPTION ONE IS KNOWLEDGE AND CREATING, OPTION TWO IS STEALING AND DOESN'T WANT TO WORK.

(JAMES SPLASHWORTH WAITS FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE VIEWER FOR FOUR SECONDS)

Oh dear! It looks like you've chosen for me to say that I stole from my last job and that I don't really want to work here. I don't know if that is going to go down well if I am completely honest. But let's see!

(FACES ORANGE)

Well, if I am completely honest. I got fired from my last job for stealing a filing cabinet which I now use as my wardrobe and I can't be bothered to work anywhere but my mother is kicking me out of her annex.

ORANGE
(GETTING ANGRY)

How very dare you! How dare you come into my establishment as a criminal! I bet you're thinking of stealing from me right now aren't you? I'm guessing you like the look of my shiny new computer, gonna put that in your pocket? You thief!

JAMES SPLASHWORTH IS NEARLY CRYING.

ORANGE
(CALMS DOWN)

However, the past is the past. You deserve a second chance. I have one final question to ask. What do you do outside of work?

JAMES SPLASHWORTH
(OVER THE TOP CHEERFULLY)

(FACES THE CAMERA)

Oh hot diggity dog, that is a toughie! I should probably emphasise my most productive hobbies which are that I play tennis, golf and volunteer to a soup kitchen, three times a week or I could tell him what I most enjoy doing which is that I just sit on the sofa and play my playstation and eat doritos. Which do you think I should do?

OPTIONS POP UP ON SCREEN. OPTION ONE IS TENNIS AND VOLUNTEERING, OPTION TWO IS PAYSTATION AND DORITOS.

(JAMES SPLASHWORTH WAITS FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE VIEWER FOR FOUR SECONDS)

Wow! Good choice with picking that I say I play tennis and volunteer at a soup kitchen! I think that will definitely get me the job!

(FACES ORANGE)

I play tennis and golf with almost anyone I can and three times a week, I go to the local soup kitchen and help cook for homeless people!

ORANGE
(MONOTONE)

That's very impressive. I am pleased that you applied for this job. Despite your past mishaps, you are a worthy candidate. The job is yours. When can you start?

JAMES SPLASHWORTH
(VERY VERY VERY VERY CHEERFULLY)

Wow thank you so much! I'd be happy to start Monday!

(FACES THE CAMERA)

Thank you so much for all your help! I couldn't have done it without you!

Personal Statement:
Creative media has always fascinated me, no matter what form it comes in. The ways people capture their audiences’ attention through small codes and conventions made me yearn to explore and create my own pieces. I find pleasure in many genres of media, ranging from film to website design and magazines. In film specifically, I have recently relished in watching Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name and Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, two fantastic movies that are prime examples of why I am so inquisitive about what processes are behind such amazing productions. I eagerly await my chance to expand my knowledge of creative media genres as what I have already been introduced to hasn’t yet fulfilled what I am looking for.

More recently in my education I have planned, produced and edited a multi-camera shoot for the first time. Having complete control of the situation allowed me to experience first-hand the difficulties and the pleasures of using advanced equipment and editing software such as Adobe Premier Pro. This project has given me new skills in video editing, SFX and Photoshop as well as giving me ample opportunity to expand on my time-management and communication skills.

Outside of education and in my spare time, I create posters on my iPad, make sketchbooks for art genres that interest me and have done professional photography and editing for a watch selling business. All these experiences have outlined the skills I need to produce a creative portfolio in all my projects, and I deem these to be useful transferable skills that I will continue to use in my future.

Recently, I participated as the Producer for a team of people that reached the semi-finals of WorldSkills UK Live at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College. We were put under pressure and faced many other teams to create inspirational and promotional videos. As a result, we placed top 10 in the UK. This competition allowed me to experience planning, creative thinking, time-management and team work all whilst in a time-sensitive environment. Three years ago, I completed The Duke of York Inspiring Digital Enterprise and received a Bronze award. Later in 2018, I achieved the Silver award too. These achievements taught me how to be a good citizen, a dedicated worker and a great entrepreneur. While earning these awards, I also learnt the importance of creativity and originality when making a business and what is essential to making a product successful.

Previously, I volunteered in college as a crew member and operated Black Magic cameras in graduation ceremonies, as well as music performances. This voluntary work taught me everything I know about cameras, from setting up the equipment on to white balancing to camera positions and angles. Currently, I have a part-time job working in front of customers has given me a friendly face in my community and working around my employees to satisfy customers has taught me how important communication and teamwork can really be. Additionally, I was interviewed to be a prefect and retrieved a spot based on the causes that I felt needed to be addressed. At the beginning of college, I was elected to be student representative, these nominations ensure that I am a friendly, likeable and approachable face that people look up to.

Prior to me joining a new school, I had never heard of media studies, it was a new experience that I decided to take part in. From that day, I have followed the subject throughout high school and into college with the interest of pursuing a career at University and beyond.

Showreel:

This is my planning for my showreel, I have taken all of the videos that I have made in previous projects and work experience and found time stamps for clips that I would like to use in my showreel, I also located all of the footage in my hard drive so that when it comes to editing I can easily go though my files to add the footage on to my timeline.

To make this even more easier, I copied all of the files into a new folder with more folders separating footage from graphics and graphics from exports. This means that when I load the adobe save for my showreel, I will not get any “locate media” or “media offline” and it will allow me to get everything done quicker as I am not wasting time locating everything.
